Handcrafted from recycled vintage saris. This artisan group collects discarded saris and sorts through them to find the most interesting pieces with which to embellish these stricking bags. By putting old saris to use in new wallets, the original craftsmanship is preserved and each piece becomes a work of art.
About the artisan:
Your purchase helps to support crafts women in India through Teddy Exports. At Teddy Exports, all employees receive a salary well above the local norm and benefits include medical care, paid maternity leave, primary education for their children, daycare, subsidized meals and a pension plan. Their proceeds fund the Teddy Trust, which supports a school for 300 village children, an AIDS awareness program, a healthcare clinic and an education and counseling project for street children.
